Overview
globalDrive is a framework by the Institute of Automotive Technische Universität München for international student projects on trendsetting mobility topics with relevance for the automotive industry.
globalDrive 2018 is a joint project between Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Technical University of Munich, Germany. This project is funded by the National Research Foundation Singapore in cooperation with TUMCREATE and NTU.
The Singapore team was given a design brief to develop a vehicle in light of the possible changes in the future of mobility, namely autonomous vehicles. Hence, the team worked towards ensuring a cosy and reassuring experience for the users, while welcoming the idea of promoting car-sharing in the future.
The interior is equipped with a virtual assistant, Nami, that accompanies the passengers throughout their journey and ensures that the passenger's needs in the interior are met. With a friendly character appearance, Nami helps to alleviate the stress of travelling without a driver and offers a more human touch to the interior. The user is able to communicate with the autonomous vehicles using the armchair or through the Nami app.
Role: Experience/Interior Designer, CAD Animator and Video Editor
